Our volunteers in Edmonton started off their festive season by providing Christmas cheer to the Seniors of Rosslyn place. This was their 5th year visiting the seniors retirement community.
35 adults and children gathered together to sing Christmas Carols to a group of 45 seniors. They enjoyed singing all the classic Christmas songs and again this year had fun singing The 12 days of Christmas with the Seniors participating. They also had a special treat when one of the young girls, Selena Marks, performed 2 songs on the piano. The evening ended with the group singing with "We wish you a Merry Christmas" while the children handed out treats to the seniors. After the caroling, they were able to spend time chatting and socializing with the residents while enjoying coffee and cookies.
The Seniors were really encouraged with the evening and especially loved having the children there. One women commented that she doesn't get many visitors even from her family and was grateful for the singing and conversation with everyone.
It is encouraging when they hear, “I remember you from last year” and several said, “We look forward to next year."
