HOPE Vancouver enter its 4th year supporting Mental Health Philippines
Serving At The Out of The Cold Program
On Friday January 22nd and Saturday January 23rd a group of 35 faithful and cheerful volunteers from our Toronto East chapter gave a helping hand at the Out of the Cold program at Knox United Church in Scarborough. They helped to cook and serve meals to the poor and homeless in our community. The Toronto East chapter had 35 volunteers who registered to serve for the weekend. They served 50 guests that arrived for dinner on Friday night and 22 for breakfast on Saturday morning, The guests were also pleasantly entertained with live piano music and shown a movie before bed. The guests were quite impressed with the dinner and breakfast and just how pleasant and cheerful the volunteers were. Before saying goodbye and leaving, the guests were each given prepared lunches, backpacks, hygiene products and several items of clothing. These included socks, pants, sweaters, t-shirts and other personal items. Many volunteers took the opportunity to mingle with the guests, some sitting and enjoying a meal together. A Word from the Chapter director, Carolyn Hou On behalf of HOPE worldwide of Canada we would like to thank everyone who contributed at the Out of The Cold program held at Knox United Church, serving the vulnerable in our community.
