Spreading Christmas Cheer in Edmonton

As always, December was a busy time for the Edmonton chapter...busy spreading Christmas cheer to those in need. On Friday December 18th volunteers had the pleasure of lifting the spirits of many seniors at Rosslyn Place through Christmas caroling. Our annual Christmas caroling event has become a delight that both the seniors & carolers look forward to every year. The feedback from the staff & residents is that they greatly enjoy the children accompanying their parents who distribute small treats when the singing has ended. Below is a thank you card from the Staff & Residents. Thank you so much for visiting us this evening & providing us with lovely & festive music! We enjoyed having you celebrate this special time of year with us. ~ Staff & Residents @ Rosslyn Place The saying is true that it is better to give then to receive! And give we did as our Edmonton volunteers prepared and delivered 10 holiday hampers to families in need throughout the city. Teaming up again with JCI (Junior Chamber International) for their annual Holiday Hamper Program allows our volunteers a great opportunity to make an impact and switch the focus from receiving gifts to giving them. With the kind donation of money and time from many members of the Capital City Church of Christ & Murray’s Trucking we were able to bring a little joy and Christmas spirit to some of Edmonton’s poorest families. Here is an anonymous letter from one of the Holiday Hamper recipient families: “On behalf of my family we want to say thank you for the hamper. This has been a tough year for our family. You thought of not only our two girls but my husband and myself as well. I can not express how much we appreciate all you have done for our family. Merry Christmas & Thank you again.” ~ JCI Holiday Hamper Recipient Family.
