JCI Holiday Hampers

On December 15th, 13 volunteers in Edmonton, affectionately known as “Hamper Elves” delivered food hampers and gifts to families in need as identified by JCI Edmonton (Junior Chamber International). They became elves to 7 families (13 adults, 10 teens and 18 children).

Groceries were purchased ($1100), turkeys and vegetables provided and gifts for the families. It is always a fun time being able to shop and deliver, knowing you help make someone's Christmas a little brighter. JCI was grateful for our help with comments on our social media, “It’s so exciting! Glad to see you taking part.” and “Thanks to you guys for being huge supporters."

Here is a story from one of our elves,

We just got back from delivering the Christmas hamper. The family was very grateful. They invited us in for coffee and juice. We had an awesome visit and ended up staying for three hours.

I made fatayer with the mom and oldest daughter. They were very proud to share a part of their Syrian/Lebanese heritage with us.

December is always a busy time and we are so grateful for our volunteers who help make the season bright.
